A few weeks ago, two dear friends of mine – Suz (sewpony) and Jill – launched a beautiful pattern: Juliette. I wasn’t able to join the blog tour at the time, but bought the pattern as soon as it came out. I just love the design so much.
The ruffle collar is the option of the pattern which stands out most, but I decided to leave it out. Not that I didn’t like it (it was once on the shortlist of options for my own Tinny pattern) but because I didn’t know if Ava would. She’s incredibly picky when it comes to clothes, and has a knack for disliking certain details for no reason whatsoever.
I did use the faux button placket though, but rounded off the corners a bit, for a more retro look.
Instead of trying to bribe Ava into posing for pictures, I just took her to a playground and snapped some in-action pictures. Next, I selected the few which were (1) not too blurry and (2) not showing her panties :-p
The fabric is an oldie-but-a-goodie from Katarina Roccella‘s beautiful Indelible collection for Art Gallery Fabrics. I always like using light blue fabrics for Ava, because they go well with her eyes.
Sewing this Juliette was a real pleasure! Everything lined up well, and the instructions were, as always, detailed and very clear. I love the result, and even more importantly: so does Ava!
Thanks Suz and Jill, for making this wonderful pattern!
