Together with Norah’s – ahem – ‘Summer’ coat, I also made a Moiano for Ava. I bought the main fabric, again, from De Soldeur (still available here).
I was having my doubts when the fabric arrived: it looked beautiful, but wouldn’t the print be too big for a coat for little Ava? Once the coat was finished, I realized that my worries hadn’t been necessary.
I combined the fabric with neon yellow piping in the hood and sleeves.
For the lining, I used a classic fabric from Michael Miller: On Parade. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then I just paid a huge compliment to my Moiano tester Charline. Because I completely copied her idea of using this beautiful border print as a coat lining (with her permission). 😉
For the hanging loop, I used the selvage of the fabric.
Ava was really happy with her new coat. It’s also lighter than Norah’s Moiano, but warm (and big) enough to last through Autumn.
Ava was very happy with her new coat – despite the fact that I left out the pockets.
