Katrien from Kaatjenaaisels is one of my favorite pattern designers, a super kind and sweet person, and someone who creates the most beautiful things with fabrics and wool. I was really excited to be invited to her blog tour.
I picked the Nena pattern to make a dress for Norah. I had the perfect wrinkle gauze fabric ready (I thought) but it turned out to be too small to fit the pattern pieces. After much pondering, I went with a beautiful Nani Iro fabric which I actually ordered (at Miss Matatabi) to make a tote. I combined it with a neon ribbon.
I did a bit of a hack of the pattern, so I could have a fully lined bodice. When the dress was ready, I could almost cry. I didn’t like the result. The fabric suddenly seemed too grim for a girl’s dress, and the skirt looked weird.
But then Norah put the dress on, and I was SOLD! I love it so much. And of course, there is nothing wrong with the skirt.
Norah loves it too, and wore it to school the next day. Yay! Thanks for this beautiful pattern, Katrien!
